About Archbald

Archbald is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. It was named after James Archbald, the first mayor of Carbondale, and was originally called White Oak Run before being renamed in his honor. The settlement’s early population consisted mainly of Irish Catholics fleeing the Great Famine.
