About Belmont
Belmont is a small suburban city in Gaston County, North Carolina, situated about 9 miles east of Gastonia. The area was originally known as Garibaldi Station, named for the railroad stop established in the early 1870s. This name honored John Garibaldi, the engineer who oversaw both the railroad construction and the town's first water tower.
