Located in Eagle Place, the Bell Homestead National Historic Site served as the first North American home for Professor Alexander Melville Bell and his family. It is where Alexander Graham Bell conducted his earliest experiments on the continent and later invented the telephone in July 1874.
Something unique: The site is also known by the name of its principal structure, Melville House.
