About Dawson Creek
Dawson Creek is located in northeastern British Columbia and derives its name from a creek named after surveyor George Mercer Dawson. The city evolved from a farming community into a regional hub when the Northern Alberta Railways extended its western terminus there in 1932. Its rapid expansion continued during World War II, as the US Army utilized the rail terminus for transshipment while constructing the Alaska Highway.
