About Domingo Arenas
The municipality derives its name from Domingo Arenas, a Mexican revolutionary originally from Zacatelco who shifted allegiances during the conflict. He initially supported Francisco I. Madero and later joined the Zapatistas before switching to Venustiano Carranza due to local treatment issues. His forces, known as the Arenistas, once controlled most of Tlaxcala and Southern Puebla until his death in a 1916 botched parlay.
