Mavericks lies just outside the breakwater of Pillar Point Harbor, near Princeton-by-the-Sea and north of Half Moon Bay. It is a surfing spot where waves routinely crest over 25 ft (8 m).

Something unique: The break is caused by an unusually shaped underwater rock formation.
