About Encarnación de Díaz
Encarnación de Díaz sits in a natural pass in far northeast Jalisco, serving as a historic north-south thoroughfare since pre-Hispanic times. The town evolved from a 17th-century way station into a municipality supported by transport and haciendas until the Mexican Revolution spurred its decline. It is home to Mexico's only museum exclusively dedicated to the Cristero War, as well as a museum featuring naturally occurring mummies found in the local cemetery.
