About Golden
Golden sits along Clear Creek at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains as the county seat of Jefferson County. Founded during the Pike's Peak gold rush in 1859, it served as the capital of the Territory of Colorado from 1862 to 1867 before the government moved east to Denver City.
