About Hidalgo del Parral
Hidalgo del Parral serves as the seat of its municipality in southern Chihuahua, located 220 kilometres from the state capital. Once known as San José del Parral during its role as a significant silver supplier to the Spanish empire, the city was renamed after independence to honor Fr Miguel Hidalgo. In 2023, it received designation as a Pueblo Mágico for its cultural and historical importance.
