About Lake City
Lake City serves as the county seat of Columbia County and anchors both the Lake City Micropolitan Statistical Area and the Gainesville metropolitan area. Located 60 miles west of Jacksonville, the city saw its population rise to 12,329 by the 2020 census. Its strategic position at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Interstate 10 earned it the title The Gateway to Florida.
