About Lamar
Lamar serves as the county seat and most populous municipality in Prowers County, standing as the largest city in southeastern Colorado. The community was named for Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar, a Confederate diplomat who later became a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. It is also home to Lamar Community College.
