About Laredo
Founded in 1755, Laredo sits on the north bank of the Rio Grande opposite Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. It evolved from a small village into the capital of the short-lived Republic of the Rio Grande and now serves as the largest inland port on the Mexican border. The city operates four international bridges and two railway bridges to support its role as a major transportation hub.
