About Lerma de Villada
Lerma de Villada sits in the State of Mexico, just east of Toluca and west of Mexico City. Founded in the early colonial period and named after the Duke of Lerma, it briefly served as the capital of Mexico State before the seat moved to Toluca. The area’s Nahuatl name, Cacamilhuacan, translates to 'crows in the field,' a detail reflected in its Aztec glyph.
