About Maryland City
Maryland City is a census-designated place in Anne Arundel County, located east of Laurel and just over the border with Prince George's County. The area primarily consists of an older, compact housing development adjacent to Fort Meade army base, alongside the newer Russett development north of Maryland Route 198. When the ZIP Code was created in 1963, the United States Postal Service designated this large swath of land with 20724 'Laurel' despite none of it being located in the City of Laurel.
