About Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon is an inner suburb of New York City located in Westchester County, immediately north of the Bronx. It ranks as the eighth-largest city in New York and holds the distinction of being the state's largest African-American majority city. The community also includes a significant population of Jamaican immigrants who arrived after their homeland gained independence from Britain in 1962.
