About Ocampo
Founded in 1749 as Villa of Santa Bárbara by Don José Escandón y Helguera, Ciudad Ocampo sits at the southern border of Tamaulipas among the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains. The town was renamed in 1869 to honor reformist Melchor Ocampo and is surrounded by green mountains and hundreds of farms.
