Located in Weir Village, the Old Colony History Museum occupies a historic former Bristol Academy school building dating to 1852. The structure was designed by Richard Upjohn and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Church Green Historic District.

The museum has been housed in this building since 1926, having previously operated from the former Union Mission Chapel on Cedar Street.
