About Saanich
Saanich is a district municipality on the southern end of Vancouver Island within the Greater Victoria area. It is the largest and most populous municipality in both the Capital Regional District and Vancouver Island. The name derives from the Saanich First Nation, meaning "emerging land" or "emerging people".
