Seneca is a city in Oconee County, South Carolina, with a population of 8,850 as of the 2020 census. It serves as the principal city of the Seneca Micropolitan Statistical Area and lies within the greater Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson Combined Statistical Area. The city was named after the nearby Cherokee town of Isunigu, which English colonists called "Seneca Town".
