Sioux Falls is the most populous city in South Dakota, serving as the county seat of Minnehaha County while also extending into northern Lincoln County. The city sits in rolling hills at the junction of Interstates 29 and 90 along the banks of the Big Sioux River, where it was chartered in 1856.
