About Wheaton
Wheaton is a census-designated place in Montgomery County, Maryland, situated north of Washington, D.C., and northwest of downtown Silver Spring. The community takes its name from Frank Wheaton (1833–1903), a Rhode Island volunteer who rose to the rank of major-general while serving in the Union Army before, during, and after the Civil War.
