About Zumpango
Zumpango is a municipality in northeastern Mexico State, situated directly north of Mexico City within the Greater Mexico City urban area. Its seat, Zumpango de Ocampo, sits near Lake Zumpango, the final remnant of five interconnected lakes that once covered the Valley of Mexico. The city’s name derives from the Nahuatl word Tzompanco, meaning string of scalps.
