About Acámbaro
Acámbaro is the oldest of Guanajuato's 46 municipalities, situated on the banks of the Lerma River in the state's southeastern corner. Originally a Purépecha settlement invaded by Spanish and Otomi forces in 1526, it developed into a significant railway junction and transport hub. The city is also the origin of the nationally famous Acámbaro bread.
