Located on Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall, the United States Capitol serves as the seat of the United States Congress. This neoclassical building with a white exterior forms the origin point for Washington, D.C.'s street-numbering system and its four quadrants.
Something unique: Although no longer at the geographic center of the national capital, it remains the reference point for the district's layout.
