United States Capitol
Located on Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall, the United States Capitol serves as the seat of the United States Congress. This neoclassical building with a white exterior forms the origin point for Washington, D.C.'s street-numbering system and its four quadrants.
Although no longer at the geographic center of the national capital, it remains the reference point for the district's layout.
