About Calimaya
Calimaya lies just south of Toluca in the State of Mexico, with origins dating back to approximately 800 BCE during the existence of Teotenango. The municipality remained significant through the colonial era under the Counts of Calimaya and is now transitioning from rural agriculture to suburban housing. It preserves one of the oldest open chapels in the State of Mexico.
