About Captain Cook
Captain Cook is a census-designated place in Hawaiʻi County, situated within the land division of Kealakekua. The community derives its name from the early 1900s practice of locating the area's post office inside the Captain Cook Coffee Co. As of March 2022, a resolution was under consideration to rename the town to Kaʻawaloa, meaning long landing place.
