The Silver State Capital
About Carson City
Carson City serves as the capital of Nevada and sits in Eagle Valley on the eastern edge of the Carson Range. Originally a stopover for immigrants, it grew into a city due to the Comstock Lode silver strike and has been the state capital since 1861. The area was once a hub for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad until its tracks were removed in 1950.
