About Clarksdale
Clarksdale serves as the county seat of Coahoma County in the Mississippi Delta region, situated along the Sunflower River. Founded by John Clark in the mid-19th century around a timber mill, it developed into an agricultural and trading hub. The city is historically significant for its role in the development of the blues by African American musicians who later carried the genre north during the Great Migration.
