About Dubuque
Dubuque is the oldest city in Iowa, having been settled in 1788 and chartered in 1833. It serves as the county seat of Dubuque County and sits along the Mississippi River at the convergence of the Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin borders. The city was named after French-Canadian trader and miner Julien Dubuque.

The Vault Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge
Located at 342 Main Street, The Vault Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge occupies the historic German Bank building in Dubuque's Lower Main Street district. Designed by architects John Spencer and W.G. Williamson, this three-story brick structure replaced the former Dubuque Miners' Bank building in 1901.
The bank was originally started in 1864 by T.H. Thedinga, Dubuque's first German-born mayor, to serve the city's prominent German immigrant community.
