Eliot is a historic town in York County, Maine, originally settled in 1623 and formerly part of neighboring Kittery. It sits on the Piscataqua River directly across from Portsmouth and Newington, New Hampshire. As the second most southern town in the state, it contains the census-designated place of South Eliot.
