The Moccasin City
About Nampa
Nampa is Idaho's third-most populous city and the second principal city of the Boise metropolitan area, located about 20 miles west of Boise along Interstate 84. The name may derive from a Shoshoni word meaning 'moccasin' or 'footprint', according to toponymist William O. Bright. The city supports a prominent student population with institutions like the College of Western Idaho and Northwest Nazarene University.
