About Puerto Escondido
Puerto Escondido is a Mexican city-port and tourist center in the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec Distrito 22 in the state of Oaxaca. Before the 1930s, the area lacked permanent settlement because there was no potable water, though the bay served as an intermittent port for shipping coffee. The name derives from a legend about a woman who escaped her captors and hid there.
