About Rifle
Rifle serves as the most populous community in Garfield County and a regional hub for the cattle-ranching industry. Located along Interstate 70 and the Colorado River, the town sits just east of the Roan Plateau, which dominates its western skyline. The municipality was founded by Abram Maxfield in 1882 and derives its name from the nearby Rifle Creek.
