Rimouski sits on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence Estuary in Quebec's Bas-Saint-Laurent region, approximately 300 km downstream from Quebec City. The city is an educational hub hosting Université du Québec à Rimouski, Cégep de Rimouski, and a Music Conservatory. It also serves as a base for several ocean sciences research centres.
