About Salamanca
Salamanca is located inside the Allegany Indian Reservation, one of two areas governed by the Seneca Nation of Indians. The city was named after José de Salamanca, a Spanish nobleman who invested in railroads around the globe. His financial interests included the Atlantic and Great Western Railroad, which operated in New York State, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
