About Starkville

Starkville serves as the county seat of Oktibbeha County and is the largest city in Mississippi's Golden Triangle region. Founded in 1831, it was originally called Boardtown due to local sawmilling operations before being renamed in 1837 to honor Revolutionary War general John Stark.
