About Willimantic
Willimantic is a census-designated place within the Town of Windham that once served as a major center for the textile industry. Known historically as the Thread City due to the American Thread Company's mills along the Willimantic River, it was originally incorporated as a city in 1893 before being reabsorbed into Windham in the 1980s.
