About Blackwell
Black — a city in Kay County, Oklahoma, positioned where U.S. Highway 177 meets State Highway 11 along Interstate 35. Its history began with the September 16, 1893 Cherokee Outlet land run led by A. J. Blackwell, after which the town was established and grew around agriculture and fossil‑fuel industries. The 2020 census recorded a population of 6,085 residents.
