About Lockport
Located 30 miles southwest of Chicago in Will County, Lockport was incorporated in 1853 along the historic Illinois and Michigan Canal. The city served as the canal's headquarters during its operational years, with a section still running through town today. Visitors can see the remains of Lock No. 1, the structure from which the community derived its name.
