About San Andrés Mixquic
San Andrés Mixquic is a community in the Tláhuac borough, founded on a small island in Lake Chalco by the 11th century. Although drainage destroyed its traditional chinampas gardens, the area remains agricultural despite being part of Mexico City. The name Míxquic translates to “in mesquite.”
