About San Pedro Atocpan
San Pedro Atocpan is a rural community in the Milpa Alta borough of Mexico City, situated on rugged terrain between the Cuauhtzin Volcano and Teutli Mountain. The name derives from Nahuatl for 'on fertile soil,' reflecting its agricultural roots at an elevation of about 2,500 meters. This area produces almost all of the mole sauce consumed in Mexico City, employing over 90% of its residents.
